- SERVICE TO VINTON RESIDENTS SINCE 1939
- Countless Vinton Residents' lives have been saved or made better
through the actions and life saving deeds provided by the Volunteer
Members and Paid Staff.
- Incorporated with the State Corporation Commission.

- REGULAR MEETINGS
- Business Meeting 1st Monday of every month
- Training Meeting 3rd Monday of every month

- OPERATIONS
- We comply with all Federal, State, and Local Laws governing
our operations.
- Tax status allows tax-deductible donations from corporations
and individuals in our community.
- Governed by member-approved Bylaws and Standard Operating Procedures
(SOPs) with directions from our Board of Directors, consisting
of Crew Members and Vinton Citizens and Leaders.

- FUND RAISING ACTIVITIES
- Annual Fund Drive to reach citizens living in our response area.
- Citizen designations to the United Way through their payroll
deductions.
- Other donations received throughout the year.

- THIRTY FIVE PLUS (35+) VOLUNTEER MEMBERS
- Volunteer members of all ages and from all walks of life.
- Members are reimbursed for meals on weekend daylight duty teams.
(Crew supported.)

- PAID MEDICS ON-DUTY 24/7
- Career Staff relations above any other
locality in the Valley, and that allows for give and take both
ways to service the residents of Vinton with the best ALS service
available.

- Four (4) ALS Ambulances (Three (3) are owned by the Town of
Vinton and one (1) belongs to Roanoke County)
- One (1) Medium Duty Crash Truck
- Two (2) Carry Alls
- Two (2) Rescue Boats
- One (1) Special Operations Trailer

- APPLICATION PROCESS AND POLICY
- All Applicants must meet with the Assistant Chief to review
the application process and procedures to be followed.
- You will need to complete a simple, BUT IMPORTANT,
application process to assure your safety and the safety of the
residents of the Town of Vinton.
- New Applicants must complete two applications
- Vinton First Aid Crew Application.
–Return to VFAC Assistant Chief for processing
- Roanoke County Fire and Rescue Application. (Yellow Cover
Page Form)
- VFAC Assistant Chief will review the applications and sign
line 1 (under for organization use only) of the Roanoke County
Fire and Rescue Application.
- VFAC Assistant Chief and the applicant will review cover
page of the Roanoke County Fire and Rescue Application.
- Applicant will schedule an appointment with Roanoke County
Fire and Rescue.
- Applicant is responsible to bring the following:
–Pink copy of Roanoke County Fire and Rescue Application
–DMV record (Obtainable from DMV)
- You will:
–Need to sign permission form for a Criminal History
Check
–Receive an information packet to be reviewed
–LOU regarding driving county vehicles
–Have your picture taken for I.D. badge
–Receive Rookie Orientation Information
–Have your Criminal History Record processed and
reviewed
–Have your DMV record reviewed
- Rescue Chief will be notified of the results of the
reviews.
- Only applicants who have NO felony convictions and
NO convictions of moral turpitude will be eligible for
acceptance.
- Only applicants who are twenty-one (21) years of age
or older with–two (2) or better DMV points will
be eligible to drive county vehicles.
- The Applicant, after passing ALL required reviews,
is then eligible to be presented for membership in the
Vinton First Aid Crew at the next regularly scheduled
business meeting.
