The Vinton Fire Department proudly protects approximately 10,000 people living in an area of 7.5 square miles. The department operates out of 1 station, and protects a primarily residential area. Our members are on a combination of paid and volunteer status. The department has an ISO rating of 5.

  • FUND RAISING ACTIVITIES
      • The Vinton Volunteer Firefighter Fund Drive begins in August of each year.
      • Residents and Businesses in Vinton and East Roanoke County will receive requests for donations in the mail around that time.
      • 100% of your donation goes directly to the Vinton Fire Department.
      • Checks can be made payable to the Vinton Fire Department.
      • Donations are tax deductible.
      • Donations from citizens and businesses help fund training for members, equipment needs of the department, and two banquets annually for our volunteers. Remember, your volunteers provide their time and talents to the community for free.
      • The Vinton Fire Department DOES NOT sell concert tickets through telemarketing phone calls. Also, the department does not receive any financial support from any firefighters' association that does.

  • VOLUNTEERS WANTED
      • Applications are now being accepted. The department provides the training. All we ask for is your time, talent, and commitment.
      • Vinton and East Roanoke County Residents may apply at the firehouse located at 120 W. Jackson Avenue, or call 540-983-0629 after 7 p.m. on weeknights.
