Animal Tags & Licenses
All Dogs & Cats Require Tags
The Town of Vinton requires that all dogs and cats be properly tagged. Animal tags expire December 31 each year, and tags are available from the Finance and Treasurer Department starting December 1 each year.

To obtain tags for dogs or cats, you must present a current rabies certificate
for each animal to the town's Finance and Treasurer Department. The certificate must indicate if the animal is neutered or spayed. Fees are $5 each for spayed or neutered animals and $10 each for unaltered animals per year. Three-year licenses are also available. The cost for a three-year license is $13.50 for spayed or neutered animals and $27 for unaltered animals.
Maximum of Four Animals at Your Home
Households are currently allowed four animals, of which two must be spayed or neutered.
Prohibited animals within the town include livestock, fowl, and rabbits. (Chickens are allowed by special ordinance and permit)
