Vinton Fire & EMS Places New Ambulance In Service
The Vinton Fire & EMS Department recently received a new ambulance as a result of a grant from the Virginia Office of EMS Rescue Squad Assistance Fund.  The grant was a 50/50 matching grant.  The new unit is a 2011 Ford F-450 with a Marque custom modular box.  The new unit will run as Medic 22 and will be staffed by 24 hour paid medics

The Vinton Fire & EMS Department recently received a new Scott thermal imaging camera from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation.  The new equipment was not able to be obtained due to local budget and economic contraints.  The device increases a fire victims chances of survival by allowign firefighters to quickly locate and remove them from dangerous environments.  The new camera replaces outdated equipment.

"Our local heroes need to be prepared at a moment's notice to protect and save our lives," said Chris Pietryzk, franchisee of the Roanoke, VA Firehouse Subs location.  "Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, with the support of our restaurants, is dedicated to equip, educate and fund our first responders."

Captain Chris Linkous of the Vinton Fire & EMS Department said, "We are very appreciative of the support of the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation and the local Firehouse Subs restaurants in allowing us to obtain this valuable equipment."
