Meow!

I'm Onyx. I got my name because I have the most beautiful, silky black fur!  I am only about a year old and was out in the huge world all on my own until I came to the shelter.  I am on the hunt for a great "furever" home.
I am a friendly, calm girl who can be a bit timid upon first meeting you, but don't worry, I warm up quickly once I get to know you!
If you can be my "furever" family, my
adoption fee will be waived (FREE) with your approved application!

Purrrrrrr,

Onyx

Woof Woof!

I'm Tacoma, and I am looking for my "furever" home after coming to the shelter as stray  I'm a Pitbull mix, and
I am only about 2 years old. The people here at the shelter tell me I am a super sweet, handsome guy. I could really use a great "furever" home with some nice people to love me and take care of me, and a regular meal schedule. Being out in the world on your own is hard work! I hope you can come meet me and be
 my "furever" family.

Paws Up,

Tacoma

WOOF!  My name is Lilac, and I'm only 3 years old.  I am a very sweet Pitbull mix girl who came to the shelter as a stray.  Can you believe no one came to bail out a cutie like me from the shelter?!?!  I am just the sweetest gal who loves people! I am friendly, gentle and sweet.  I want to be the only pet in your home so I can have my "furever" family all to myself!  Could you come by my shelter to meet me today?

Love

Pick Me!

Who is RCACP?

The Regional Center for Animal Control & Protection (RCACP) is an open intake facility accepting stray and lost animals from animal control officers and the public, as well as owner relinquished pets, from the City and County of Roanoke, the County of Botetourt, and the Town of Vinton. The RCACP posts pictures of lost or strayed animals on their website, www.rcacp.org, to make it possible to search for a lost pet online. The website also contains a lost and found database that allows someone who has lost a pet, or someone who has found a pet, to post information on the animal to help reunite the pet with his/her family.

Adopting a Friend

Once an animal has passed his/her required holding time at the facility to allow the owner to reclaim him/her, the RCACP works with the Roanoke Valley SPCA, rescue groups and other shelters to place available animals in suitable homes. Animals who are housed at the RCACP that are posted on the Petfinder.com website have been deemed available and can be seen by visiting the center Monday - Friday between 11:30 - 5:30 pm and Saturday 11:30 - 4:00 pm. Once an adoption request is placed, an appointment will be made to complete the adoption through the RVSPCA. Each will be spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped before being adopted. To place an adoption or rescue request, or for more complete information, please email us at  or call (540) 344-4922. Be sure to give us the animal's ID number to assure your name is on the right pet.
