Meow! I'm Avalon, and I am only about a year old. I am a gorgeous solid white little girl with the most beautiful, silky fur.  I came to the shelter as a stray and am waiting for my "purrrrfect furever" home.  I am very sweet and love attention! I always come to the front of my crate right away to get your attention.  I will also reach out my paw to you. I love to talk to you--meowing and purring up a storm!

Can you be my "furever" family? Please come and meet me at the shelter and take me home as soon as possible! Did I mention that my adoption fee will be waived (FREE) with your approved application?

Purrrrrr,  Avalon

Woof! I'm Jackson. I am a handsome 5 year old Labrador Retriever/Pitbull mix guy.  I came to the shelter as a stray, and sadly my former owners never came to bail me out! I am a very sweet and friendly guy who loves people. I passed all the tests they gave me here at the shelter with flying colors!  I seem to like other doggies, but I like to be the boss.  I bet I would make a great family companion.  I would really like to have a family to love soon.

Love,

Jackson

Woof!! My name is Liza, and I'm only about four years old.  I came to the shelter as a stray, and unbelievably, my former owners never came to bail me out.  I am a gorgeous black Labrador Retriever who's a real sweetheart.  I can be a little shy when I first meet you, but I warm up quickly.  I am the type of dog who could brighten up anybody's home.  I am looking for the most "pawesome furever" home.  Won't you come meet me and be my "furever" family today!

Love

Pick Me!

Who is RCACP?

The Regional Center for Animal Control & Protection (RCACP) is an open intake facility accepting stray and lost animals from animal control officers and the public, as well as owner relinquished pets, from the City and County of Roanoke, the County of Botetourt, and the Town of Vinton. The RCACP posts pictures of lost or strayed animals on their website, www.rcacp.org, to make it possible to search for a lost pet online. The website also contains a lost and found database that allows someone who has lost a pet, or someone who has found a pet, to post information on the animal to help reunite the pet with his/her family.

Adopting a Friend

Once an animal has passed his/her required holding time at the facility to allow the owner to reclaim him/her, the RCACP works with the Roanoke Valley SPCA, rescue groups and other shelters to place available animals in suitable homes. Animals who are housed at the RCACP that are posted on the Petfinder.com website have been deemed available and can be seen by visiting the center Monday - Friday between 11:30 - 5:30 pm and Saturday 11:30 - 4:00 pm. Once an adoption request is placed, an appointment will be made to complete the adoption through the RVSPCA. Each will be spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped before being adopted. To place an adoption or rescue request, or for more complete information, please email us at  or call (540) 344-4922. Be sure to give us the animal's ID number to assure your name is on the right pet.
