Adoptable Pets of the Week
“A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he (she) loves himself (herself).” --Josh Billings

Dog of the Week--"Frito"--ID#1157591

"Frito"--ID#1157591
Hola!

My name is Frito, and I am a three year old Chihuahua.   I am just a small fry who was out there on my own when I was brought to the shelter as a stray.  Can you believe that no one ever came to reclaim a cute guy like me?  That's good news for you because that means I'M AVAILABLE!  I am a very friendly boy who loves adults, and I get along ok with other dogs.  I'd love to have a family who will let me cuddle up with them on the couch.  Do you think you could be my "furever" family?  If so, come down to the shelter to meet me today!

Gracias...

Frito  (") (")

"Homer"--ID#1151880

MEOW!

I'm Homer!  I am a sweet, but a bit shy, kitty who is about three years old. I was picked up as a stray and my former family never came to pick me up.  I am here at the shelter just waiting for you to come and pick me!  The people here tell me that I have the most beautiful, silky black fur.

I think I'd love to have a "furever" home that has a nice window where I can sit and watch the birds and squirrels outside.  I would also love to have some kitty toys to play with, and maybe some catnip from time to time!  Come find out if I am the one for you and your family!  My adoption fee will be waived (Yes, FREE!) with your approved application!

"Purrever" Yours.... Love,

Homer (")(")

Pick Me!

Who is RCACP?

The Regional Center for Animal Control & Protection (RCACP) is an open intake facility accepting stray and lost animals from animal control officers and the public, as well as owner relinquished pets, from the City and County of Roanoke, the County of Botetourt, and the Town of Vinton. The RCACP posts pictures of lost or strayed animals on their website, www.rcacp.org, to make it possible to search for a lost pet online. The website also contains a lost and found database that allows someone who has lost a pet, or someone who has found a pet, to post information on the animal to help reunite the pet with his/her family.

Adopting a Friend

Once an animal has passed his/her required holding time at the facility to allow the owner to reclaim him/her, the RCACP works with the Roanoke Valley SPCA, rescue groups and other shelters to place available animals in suitable homes. Animals who are housed at the RCACP that are posted on the Petfinder.com website have been deemed available and can be seen by visiting the center Monday - Friday between 11:30 - 5:30 pm and Saturday 11:30 - 4:00 pm. Once an adoption request is placed, an appointment will be made to complete the adoption through the RVSPCA. Each will be spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped before being adopted. To place an adoption or rescue request, or for more complete information, please email us at  or call (540) 344-4922. Be sure to give us the animal's ID number to assure your name is on the right pet.
