Inoperative / Junk Vehicles
Code Violation
Inoperable vehicles are subject to code enforcement by the Town of Vinton. The owner of such a vehicle can remedy the problem by doing one or all of the following:
  • Completely screening the vehicle from public view in a fully enclosed building or structure or by the use of hedges or approved fencing; please note: a car cover is not considered to be adequate screening
  • Restoring the vehicle to an operable condition including valid license plates and valid inspection sticker
  • Removing the vehicle from the premises

Inoperable Vehicles
In order for a vehicle, truck, or trailer to be considered inoperable, it must fall into at least one of the following categories:
  • A vehicle that is not in operating condition
  • A vehicle, which for a period of 60 days or longer has been partially or totally disassembled by the removal of tires and wheels, the engine, or other essential parts required for operation of the vehicle
  • A vehicle on which there are displayed neither valid license plates nor a valid inspection decal
