Advanced life support ambulance and wagon is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
The Vinton Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Department serves the corporate limits of Vinton, as well as eastern Roanoke County. The department also provides back-up emergency services to other locations in Roanoke City, Bedford, and Botetourt counties. 

Department Staffing
The station is manned by career firefighters and paramedics 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  24 hour staffing includes a wagon and an advance life support ambulance with an additional advance life support ambulance and ladder truck that is staffed Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Volunteer Staffing
The Vinton First Aid Crew and Vinton Volunteer Fire Department provide fire and EMS coverage for the area primarily on nights, weekends, and holidays. The department is funded by the Vinton Town Council, Roanoke County Board of Supervisors, and through citizen and corporate donations.

Fire Hydrant Flow Testing
Beginning Monday, June 6, 2016, through Friday, September 30, 2016, the Vinton Fire Department will flow test hydrants in the Town of Vinton and East Roanoke County. If you have questions, please contact the Vinton Fire Department at (540) 983-0629. The testing is conducted Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.,as weather and call volumes allow.  Please refer to the "FAQ" section on the right side of this page for further information about fire hydrant flow testing.
